WritePanda started as an internal tool. We were producing video content for Sanklad Digital Ltd.'s services arm — product walkthroughs, customer onboarding clips, internal training — and we kept hitting the same wall. Descript and its kin worked, but every video routed through someone else's cloud, paid for someone else's bundled AI, and ran on someone else's pricing model.
The asymmetry felt absurd. Our team was already paying for Claude and ChatGPT — top-tier frontier models. Then we were paying again, monthly, for an editor that used a much smaller bundled model to write our titles, cut our shorts, and generate our thumbnails. Worse output, double cost, cloud round-trip.
So we built a desktop editor that does the opposite. Everything runs locally — transcription, audio cleaning, filler removal, export. The AI features (titles, descriptions, thumbnails, shorts) call your own LLM subscription, so the quality scales with the model you pick rather than whatever margin a SaaS vendor is willing to spend. It became useful enough that we shipped it.
